DIAGNOSTICS

You can only treat once you have seen the problem.

What diagnostic equipment is required in a periodontal practice?

Cone Beam Computed Tomography- CBCT

Periodontal disease can involve bone loss and management depends on the extent of bone loss. 3D radiography (Cone Beam Computed Tomography- CBCT) is the latest and most advanced radiologic equipment available in dentistry. These sophisticated radiographs are necessary to determine the amount of bone available for dental implant placement or for the diagnosis of bone pathology.

Periodontal Charting

Periodontal disease is characterised by periodontal pockets. These periodontal pockets have to be measured with a probe (periodontal charting) to determine the extent of the disease. The Florida Probe Voiceworks equipment is a voice activated system for quick and efficient charting.

Intraoral Scanning

Dental models are necessary for dental implant planning. Digital intraoral scanners make the process of preparing the models much more comfortable. These models can then be 3D printed with high accuracy.
